1. Summary & Core Principle

Virtuoso is designed from the ground up as a client-side web application: the piano itself runs in your browser, and your songs, recordings, and progress stay on your own device. We believe you should be able to play music, practice songs, and create performances without accounts or signups.

We ourselves do not collect personal information, email addresses, IP logs, or analytical telemetry. However, to keep Virtuoso free we display advertising served by Google AdSense, and Google and its partners may collect data as described in section 4 below.

2. Data Storage & Local Storage

When you use the recording feature to save your performances, your music data (keystrokes, timing, and note numbers) is stored strictly in your browser's local storage (localStorage) on your own device.

• Your recordings never leave your machine and are never uploaded to any remote server.
• You can delete your saved recordings at any time by clicking the delete icon in the Recording Studio, or by clearing your browser storage.
• Your cookie-consent choice (see section 4) is also stored locally on your device.

3. Device Permissions & Web MIDI API

Virtuoso utilizes the Web MIDI API to allow external physical USB and Bluetooth MIDI keyboards to communicate with the piano synthesizer in real-time.

• No Personal Data: The MIDI interface only receives standard musical note-on, note-off, velocity, and sustain pedal events.
• No Microphone Access: Virtuoso synthesizes audio programmatically and never records audio from your microphone or surroundings.

4. Advertising, Cookies & Consent (Google AdSense)

To keep Virtuoso free, we display ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its advertising partners may use cookies and similar identifiers to serve and measure ads, personalize them where you have consented, and detect fraud. This can include cookie IDs, device information, coarse location, and records of ad views and clicks, processed under Google's Privacy Policy and Terms — not ours.

• Your choice: on your first visit you are asked to accept or reject non-essential cookies. Where the law requires it (for example the EEA and UK), advertising cookies load only after you accept. Clearing your browser's site data resets your choice so you can decide again.
• Opting out: you can turn off personalized ads in Google Ad Settings, opt out industry-wide via YourAdChoices / Your Online Choices, block third-party cookies in your browser, or use a content blocker. Some site features may work less smoothly with strict blocking.
• California (CCPA/CPRA): we do not sell personal information. Advertising identifiers collected by Google may count as “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising — use the opt-outs above to limit it.

5. Children & Families

Virtuoso is a general-audience site that many children use to learn piano. We require no accounts and knowingly collect no personal information from anyone, including children. Advertising shown to younger audiences is served with child-directed protections where applicable. Parents or guardians with questions can reach us via the Contact page.

6. Analytics

We may use privacy-respecting analytics to understand which songs and features are popular (for example, aggregate page views). Any analytics used will be disclosed here and will respect your cookie-consent choice above.
